A Note From The Commodore - 10/3/19

We are getting down to “last call” on sailing season but there are still plenty of upcoming activities at the Club. After a near brush with Hurricane Dorian we have pulled two of our keel boars for the season – Snags and Wags. Gaby, our “new” (circa 1971) Irwin 25, is tucked away in the cove behind my house and safe from the increasing easterly winds this time of year bring. Anyone interested in a Fall-color cruise or late-season sailing lessons, please contact our Fleet Captain, Scott Titus, or myself.

We are still fielding a few Albacores each week for the Sunday Race series. If you want to crew or rig and try your hand at skippering, we have a couple of Club boats available. Feel free to join us for a fun and relaxed semi-racing atmosphere. The more boats that participate the better time for all!

There are several Board members with terms ending in December, myself included, if you are interested in serving please reach out to a current Board member. I have found my time to be rewarding, and it has given me a chance to establish stronger bonds with many members of the Club. Serving on the Board is not too onerous – a meeting a month and the occasional coordination or phone calls in between. As you would expect from our Club, the Board is a fantastic group. In short, a great way to help and a load of fun too!

A final note for those who use our boat ramp. Due to some recent security issues we have installed a cable and lock to restrict access. Look in your email for the code.

Hope to see you at Oktoberfest!
